Conduct Rules

These conduct rules apply to all Events at MLG Pro Circuit Live Competitions.

 

Rules

  1. No ejecting a disc from an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii, accessing an Xbox 360’s dashboard or a PlayStation 3’s system menu, using a memory card or a USB flash drive, unplugging anything from a TV, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, or Astro Rack, or touching power units without a Referee’s permission.  No moving a TV, PC, Monitor, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, or Astro equipment without a Referee’s permission.
  2. No communication between Players and Spectators during a Match.
  3. No excessive use of vulgar language.  Excessive use of vulgar language is defined as consistent use of vulgar language at a volume that is audible to Spectators of the Match as well as a single use of vulgar language at a volume that is audible to spectators of another Match.
  4. No taunting of opposing Players, or Coaches, by Coaches.  Taunting of opposing Players, or Coaches, by Coaches is defined as derogatory language or gestures, aimed at an opposing Player(s), that is audible/visible to the opposing Player(s).
  5. No standing on chairs, tables, or other tournament equipment.
  6. No verbal abuse of Referees and other tournament officials. Verbal abuse of a Referee or other tournament official includes, but is not limited to, the use of vulgar language directed at a Referee or other tournament official, the use of insulting words or gestures directed at a Referee or other tournament official, and excessive argument with a Referee or other tournament official resulting in the delay of a Match.
  7. No use of vulgar language directed at a Player, Coach, or Spectator.
  8. No inciting Spectators into taunting a Player, Coach, or Spectator.
  9. No excessive taunting or celebration by Coaches or Players.  Excessive taunting or celebration includes, but is not limited to, post-Match taunting or celebration directed at or referencing an opposing Player(s) and/or Coach.  Post-Match interactions between opposing Players and Coaches must be limited to acts of sportsmanship.
  10. No intentional Forfeiting or conspiring to manipulate Rankings or Brackets.
  11. No unsportsmanlike physical contact.
  12. No throwing anything in the direction of an opposing Player(s) and/or Coach.  No throwing objects that could cause injury into the crowd.  Players found breaking these rules may be given a Technical Foul or ejected from the venue.
  13. Players are expected to treat all members of MLG Staff and Sponsors with respect.  Players found mistreating members of MLG Staff or Sponsors may be ejected from the venue.

 

Penalties

  1. Players found breaking Rules #1-4 will be issued a Foul.   If a Player or Coach receives two Fouls, they will be issued a Technical Foul.
  2. Players found breaking Rules #5-9 will be issued a Technical Foul.  If a Halo 3 Player/Coach is penalized with a Technical Foul, the opposing Team will be allowed to Host the next Game that the offending Team was scheduled to Host or give up Host for the next Game that they were scheduled to Host.  If a SSBB Player is penalized with a Technical Foul, they will lose their next opportunity to Counter-Pick a Game’s Stage.  Instead, that Game’s Stage will be selected randomly.  If a Tekken 6 Player is penalized with a Technical Foul, their opponent will be allowed to choose the Stage for the next Game.  If a WoW Player is penalized with a Technical Foul, their Team won’t be able to Redistribute Talent Points at the next designated interval.  If an SC2 Player is penalized with a Technical Foul, they will lose their next opportunity to choose the Map for the upcoming Game.  Instead, their opponent will choose the Map.  These penalties, if necessary, will carry from one Match to the next or one Pro Circuit Competition to the next.  If a penalty is carried from one Pro Circuit Competition to the next, it will be carried by the Player who received the Technical Foul.
  3. Coaches receiving two Technical Fouls will have their Coach wristband and privileges taken away.  Teams may not replace their Coach if their privileges have been taken away.
  4. Halo 3 and WoW Players found breaking Rules #10-11 may be ejected from the venue and their Team may be disqualified from the Event.  Teams may not replace a Player/Coach who has been ejected from the venue.  If a Player is ejected from the venue, but their Team is not disqualified from the Event, the Team may be allowed to continue to play shorthanded in the Event.  SSBB, Tekken 6, and SC2 Players found breaking Rules #10-11 may be ejected from the venue and disqualified from the Event.
  5. Referees may issue a Foul, Technical Foul, or eject a Player from the venue for acts of misconduct not listed above.
  6. Players found breaking Rules #6-13 may be subjected to further punishment such as a Temporary Ban from the MLG website, a Site Ban from the GameBattles website, the loss of Pro Player Benefits, a fine, and a Competition Ban from future Combine Competitions and/or Pro Circuit Competitions.
  7. Players who receive five Technical Fouls at one Pro Circuit Competition will be ejected from the venue.  If a Player is ejected from the venue, their Team may be allowed to continue to play shorthanded in the Event.

 

Technical Foul Penalties

  1. Technical Fouls received at Combine Competitions and Pro Circuit Competitions will be added up over the course of the 2010 season.
  2. 1st Technical Foul = Email Warning
  3. 2nd Technical Foul = 2nd Email Warning
  4. 3rd Technical Foul = Final Email Warning
  5. 4th Technical Foul = Temporary Ban from the MLG website for 30 days
  6. 5th Technical Foul = Temporary Ban from the MLG website for an additional 60 days
  7. 6th Technical Foul = Temporary Ban from the MLG website for an additional 120 days or the remainder of the calendar year, whichever is longer
  8. 7th Technical Foul = Site Ban from the GameBattles website for 30 days
  9. 8th Technical Foul = Site Ban from the GameBattles website for an additional 60 days
  10. 9th Technical Foul = Site Ban from the GameBattles website for an additional 120 days or the remainder of the calendar year, whichever is longer
  11. 10th Technical Foul = Competition Ban for the next Combine Competition and Pro Circuit Competition
  12. After the 10th Technical Foul, each subsequent Technical Foul will result in a Competition Ban for an additional Combine Competition and Pro Circuit Competition.
  13. Halo 3 Players who receive three Technical Fouls for one Match will be given a one minute Penalty.  After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one minute penalty.  Halo 3 Players receiving a one minute penalty will be instructed by a Referee to put their controller on the ground at the start of their next Game.  After one minute has passed, the Referee will instruct the Player that they may pick up their controller.
  14. SSBB Players who receive three Technical Fouls for one Match will be given a one Stock penalty at the start of their next Game.  After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Stock penalty.  SSBB Players receiving a one Stock penalty will be instructed by a Referee to jump off of the Stage at the start of their next Game.
  15. Tekken 6 Players who receive three Technical Fouls for one Match will be given a one Round penalty.  After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Round penalty.  Tekken 6 Players receiving a one Round penalty will be instructed by a Referee not to touch their controller during the next Round.
  16. WoW Players who receive three Technical Fouls for one Match will be given a one Game penalty.  After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Game penalty.  WoW Players receiving a one Game penalty will be instructed by a Referee to remove one Trinket at the start of their next Game.
  17. SC2 Players who receive three Technical Fouls for one Match will be given a one Game penalty.  After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Game penalty.  When an SC2 Player receives a one Game penalty their opponent will be allowed to select one unit, other than Probe, Drone, SCV, Overlord, or Queen, that the Player with the one Game penalty can’t create during the upcoming Game.  If the Player with the one Game penalty were to create that unit during the upcoming Game, they would Forfeit the Game.
  18. One minute, one Stock, one Round, and one Game penalties, if necessary, will carry from one Match to the next or one Pro Circuit Competition to the next.  If one of these penalties is carried from one Pro Circuit Competition to the next, it will be carried by the Player who received the Technical Fouls.  Players who fail to follow their Referee’s directions regarding a one minute, one Stock, one Round, or one Game penalty may be subjected to further punishment such as disqualification from an Event, ejection from the venue, a Temporary Ban from the MLG website, a Site Ban from the GameBattles website, the loss of Pro Player benefits, a fine, and a Competition Ban for future Combine Competitions and/or Pro Circuit Competitions.

Teambuilder Rules

The Team Builder is a tool which enables Halo 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Tekken 6, World of Warcraft, and Halo Reach players to complete their registration after they have purchased a Pro Circuit competition pass. Halo 3 4v4, Halo Reach 4v4, and World of Warcraft 3v3 players should already know who their teammates will be before going to the Team Builder. In order to complete your 4v4, 3v3, or 1v1 registration, you will need to use the Team Builder. Read the rules and guidelines below, and then access the Team Builder to complete the process.

2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules

Team Management

  1. Halo 3 and WoW Teams must be named and have four confirmed Players in Team Builder before they will be entered into the Event.  Captains are confirmed after entering their contact information.  Other Players and Coaches are confirmed after accepting their invitation to the Team.  Players who purchase an SSBB, Tekken 6, or SC2 Player Pass will be given access to Team Builder in order to complete their registration and automatically entered into the Event.
  2. Halo 3 Teams may have one Coach.  Coaches must accept their invitation to the Team in Team Builder before the Team Builder Lock.  SSBB, Tekken 6, and SC2 Players may not have a Coach.  WoW Teams may not have an individual registered as a Coach.
  3. After the Team Builder Lock, Teams that had a confirmed Coach at the Team Builder Lock will be allowed to request a Coach change, however, Teams that didn’t have a confirmed Coach at the Team Builder Lock won’t be allowed to add a Coach to their Team or compete with a Coach in the Event.
  4. Prior to the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches will be allowed to join and leave an Amateur Team, in Team Builder, without restriction.  Also, Team Captains will be allowed to add and remove Players and Coaches from their Amateur Team and change the Team Name, in Team Builder, without restriction.  An Amateur Team is any Team that doesn’t have Pro Status. 
  5. After the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches must submit requests via email (jnelson@mlgpro.com) or make requests at Check-In in order to make changes to their Amateur Team’s Roster of Players and Coach.  Players and Coaches who are confirmed on an Amateur Team will be allowed to move to another Amateur Team if both Team Captains and all Players/Coaches who are switching Teams submit their approval of the changes.  After the Team Builder Lock, Players/Coaches can’t be removed from a Team without their approval, until Check-In, if they are unable to attend or don’t want to participate in the Event.
  6. All Team Builder Locks will take place at 11:59 PM ET on the Monday, 4 days before the start of the Pro Circuit Competition.
  7. Team Name Change requests can’t be submitted at Check-In.
  8. Individuals may not be confirmed in Team Builder as a Player on more than one Team in the same Event or compete as a Player on more than one Team in the same Event.  Individuals may not be confirmed in Team Builder or compete as both a Player and a Coach in the same Event.  Individuals may not be confirmed in Team Builder as a Coach on more than one Team or participate as a Coach of more than one Team in the same Event.  In Washington D.C., individuals confirmed in Team Builder as a Player on a Halo 3 4v4 Team may not be confirmed in Team Builder as a Player on a Halo Reach 4v4 Team unless their Halo 3 4v4 Team is eliminated in the Open Bracket.  Violators of these rules will be ejected and their Teams may be disqualified or forced to continue shorthanded or without a Coach.
  9. Individuals may not be confirmed in Team Builder as a Player or compete as a Player in more than one of the following Events: Halo 3 4v4, SSBB 1v1, Tekken 6 1v1, WoW 3v3, SC2 1v1.

 

Post-Team Builder Lock Changes & Impersonation

  1. Teams are responsible for notifying the Commissioner of any changes to their Roster of Players and Coach that was submitted in Team Builder.  Notification must be made prior to the start of the Team’s Event via email (jnelson@mlgpro.com) or at Check-In’s Registration Problems desk.  Teams that fail to notify the Commissioner of a change to their Roster of Players that would’ve affected the Team’s Seed will be subject to ejection from the venue, disqualification from an Event, a Temporary Ban from the MLG website, a Site Ban from the GameBattles website, loss of Pro Player benefits, fines, and a Competition Ban for future Combine Competitions and/or Pro Circuit Competitions.
  2. Players found attempting to use another Player’s MLGpro.com Username, that has Rank Points, will be removed from their Team, disqualified from the Event, and given a Competition Ban for the current and/or upcoming Combine Competition and/or Pro Circuit Competition, and stripped of any Rank Points earned in the current Pro Circuit Competition.  Such Players will also be subject to ejection from the venue, a Temporary Ban from the MLG website, a Site Ban from the Game Battles website, loss of Pro Player benefits, and a fine.  The teammates of such Players may be subject to the same penalties.  If a Player is removed from their Team prior to the start of the Event, the Team may be allowed to add a Player in order to compete in the Event with a full Roster of Players.  If a Player is removed from their Team after the start of the Event, the Team will not be allowed to add a Player.  However, the Team may be permitted to continue to compete in the Event shorthanded.
  3. If a registered Player(s) fails to attend their Team's first Match, the Players who are present may request that they be allowed to permanently replace the Player(s) before they are forced to Forfeit a Game/Match.  Players who fail to attend their Team's first Match and are replaced will be considered as having Filed for Free Agency from the Team.  If more than two Players fail to attend their Team's first Match, the Team will Forfeit the Match.
  4. Teams may not make a Roster change, during their Event, involving a Player who has played in at least one of the Event’s Matches.

 

Captains, Team Passes, and Release Forms

  1. A Team’s Captain in Team Builder is the Player who purchased and/or currently owns the Team Pass.  Therefore, if the Team Builder Captain is changed, the new Captain becomes the owner of the Team Pass.
  2. Team Builder Captain change requests must be submitted, via email (jnelson@mlgpro.com), by the Team’s current Captain in Team Builder.
  3. Players and Coaches, 18 years of age and older (19 years of age and older in Alabama and Nebraska), will be able to accept the terms of the Appearance/Participation Release upon accessing Team Builder for their first 2010 Combine Event or Pro Circuit Event.
  4. Players and Coaches who are unable to accept the terms of the Appearance/Participation Release, upon accessing Team Builder, must bring a signed copy of the Appearance/Participation Release, with the Minor and Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form, to Check-In.
  5. Once a Player/Coach has submitted a 2010 Appearance/Participation Release, whether online or at Check-In, they won’t be required to submit another Appearance/Participation Release for the remainder of the 2010 Doritos Pro-Gaming Combine or 2010 Pro Circuit.

 

Team Name Rules

  1. No websites.
  2. No use of “Major League Gaming” or its abbreviation (MLG).
  3. No use of the word "Team".
  4. No use of the words "Gamer" or "Gaming".
  5. No derogatory, suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate words/meanings.
  6. No corporations, company, sponsor, or product names.
  7. Teams may not register for an Event at a Pro Circuit Competition with a Team Name that closely resembles that of a current or former Pro Player or Pro Team.
  8. Team Names are limited to 20 characters, including spaces.
  9. Teams found violating any of the Team Name Rules will have their Team Name changed and will be instructed to rename their Team immediately.

 

Player Name (Username) Rules

  1. No websites.
  2. No use of “Major League Gaming” or its abbreviation (MLG).
  3. No Team Name abbreviations.
  4. No derogatory, suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate words/meanings.
  5. No corporations, company, sponsor, or product names.
  6. Players may not register for or compete in an Event at a Pro Circuit Competition using a name that closely resembles that of a current or former Pro Player or Pro Team.
  7. Player Names (Usernames) are limited to 15 characters, including spaces.
  8. Players found violating any of the Player Name (Username) Rules must change their Username prior to the Team Builder Lock.  Players found violating Player Name (Username) Rule #3 may change their Team Name instead.

All emails submitted to jnelson@mlgpro.com must be submitted from the email address registered to the individual’s MLGpro.com Username.

 As well as the Halo 3 Finals, MLG Dallas will host a 256-team Halo Reach Exhibition Tournament that may well be the highlight of the 2010 Season. Join us for this historic occasion!

Dallas Exhibition Event

  1. The Event will have a Best of 3 Game Match, Double Elimination Open Bracket only.  The Open Bracket will be separated into a Winners Bracket, containing Teams without a Match loss, and a Losers Bracket, containing Teams with a Match loss.  After losing a Match in the Winners Bracket, Teams will enter the Losers Bracket.  A Match loss in the Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
  2. The Open Bracket will support as many as 256 Teams.
  3. Each Best of 3 Game Match will consist of two Team Slayer Games and one Capture The Flag Game.
  4. In Winners Bracket Rounds 1-4 and Losers Bracket Rounds 1-5, Teams must use Split-Screen (2 Players per TV).  In all other Rounds, Teams will be allowed to use Split Screen or Full Screen (1 Player per TV).
  5. Teams eliminated by way of Losers Bracket Rounds 9-12 will be scheduled to play one, two, or three Consolation Matches in order to determine their exact 5th-16th Ranking.  If the Teams that win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.  These tiebreaking Consolation Matches only apply to Teams that lose in the same Losers Bracket Round.  Consolation Matches will be scheduled to begin immediately after a Team is eliminated from the Event.
  6. Teams will be seeded for the Open Bracket using the following criteria in this order: Halo 3 Pro Circuit Rolling Rank Points, Halo Reach 4v4 Combine Rank Points, Halo Reach Online Qualifier Rank Points, Halo 3 4v4 Combine Rank Points, and Halo 3 Expired Pro Circuit Rank Points.  Ties will be broken using the next available criterion or randomly if necessary.  Teams with no Rank Points will be seeded randomly.
  7. In a Best of 3 Game Match, the higher seeded Team must choose to Host one or two Games.  The Team set to Host one Game must choose the Game that they want to Host first.  The other Team must Host the other two Games.  Teams may request that they be allowed to give up their hosting privileges for one or more Games.  The opposing Team must then accept or reject the opportunity to Host that Game(s).
  8. If Teams are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Open Bracket, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Team A beat Team B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Team A leading 2 Games to 0.  If Game 3 of the Winners Bracket Match was not played, it must be played first and the Team that would’ve hosted the Game in the Winners Bracket will Host.  The Team that won the first Match must choose to Host or not Host Game 7.  The Host for Games 4-6 will be chosen in the opposite manner in which Host was chosen in the Winners Bracket (See Dallas Rule #7).  Game 7 will be the Capture The Flag Game Type that the Teams have yet to play against each other.
  9. The Game Types for a Best of 7 Game Match will be scheduled by the Commissioner in order to ensure that a Game Type isn’t repeated.
  10. If the Teams scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Open Bracket, a Match must be played using the Finals Game Types.  If the Team that came from the Winners Bracket wins the Match, they will win the Event.  If the Team that came from the Losers Bracket wins the Match, a tiebreaking Match must be played using the Winners Bracket Finals Game Types.  The winner of a tiebreaking Match will win the Event.  Before the start of the Finals, the Team that came from the Winners Bracket must choose the Match during which they will Host two Games and the Match during which they will Host one Game (See Dallas Rule #7).
  11. The top 8 Teams will receive Automatic Bracket Qualification for the Championship Bracket in the 1st 2011 Pro Circuit Competition’s Halo Reach Event and be seeded for that Event based on their placement in the Halo Reach Dallas Exhibition Event.
  12. The top 64 Teams in the Event will receive Halo Reach Exhibition Rank Points.  Exhibition Rank Points are awarded to each Player on a Team individually and move with the Player should they leave the Team with which they earned the Exhibition Rank Points.

 

Dallas Exhibition Registration

  1. All Players on Teams that finish in the top 8 of the Event will receive Free Entry into the Halo Reach Event at the first 2011 Pro Circuit Competition.
  2. All Teams that finish 9th-32nd in the Event will be given a Reserved Team Pass for the Halo Reach Event at the first 2011 Pro Circuit Competition.
  3. All Teams that finish in the top 64 of the Halo Reach Dallas Online Qualifier will be given a Reserved Team Pass for the Halo Reach Dallas Exhibition Event.
  4. Team Pass Reservations will be sent to the Captain/Leader of the Halo Reach Team that earned the Reserved Team Pass on the Monday of the week prior to the public sale of Team Passes.  The reservations will expire on the Monday of the week of the public sale of Team Passes.  Any Reserved Team Passes that aren’t sold before the reservations expire will be sold to the public.
  5. Public Registration for the Event will open at 7 PM ET on Tuesday, October 5th. 
  6. Public Registration for the Event will close at 11:59 PM ET on Monday, November 1st.
  7. Halo Reach Dallas Exhibition Team Passes will be sold online for $240.  Halo Reach Dallas Exhibition Team Passes will be sold at Check-In, Bracket space permitting, for $300.
  8. After obtaining a Team Pass, all Halo Reach Teams must use Team Builder in order to complete Registration (See 2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules).

Rules

General Rules

  1. Players may not use a controller with Turbo capabilities, Button Mapping capabilities, more buttons than the first party wired controller, or Wireless capabilities, and they may not use a Play and Charge Kit.  Controllers with Turbo capabilities allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times.  Controllers with Button Mapping capabilities allow Players to map a button sequence to a specific button.  Pressing that button results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons. 
  2. Players may not use a controller that has been modified in such a way that it alters their Character’s abilities and/or in-game mechanics.  Players may not use a controller that has been modified to include a Turbo button or Button Mapping capabilities.  Players are allowed to make cosmetic changes to their controller, however, Major League Gaming reserves the right to deny the use of any controller suspected of providing an unfair competitive advantage. 
  3. Players and Coaches may not use a Wireless headset or a headset that requires an outlet for power.
  4. Teams that break General Rules #1-3 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  5. Players and Coaches may not intentionally manipulate a button, trigger, bumper, D-Pad, and/or joystick on a teammate’s controller while a Game is in progress.  Breaking this rule will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  6. Players and Coaches may not appear on the Main Stage or Feature Station with sponsor insignia that is not approved by MLG or conflicts with MLG sponsors.  Players and Coaches may be asked to wear MLG apparel for Main Stage and Feature Station Matches.
  7. Players may use any unoccupied USB ports on their Xbox 360 as well as any unoccupied plug-ins on their Astro Rack and TV.
  8. In the case of an Xbox 360/TV malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning.
  9. No Warm-Up Games may be played outside of scheduled Warm-Up periods.
  10. During Friday and Saturday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Games must be played using the Slayer Game Mode.
  11. During Friday and Saturday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Players must get up at the end of a Game and allow any Players, who have been waiting, to take their seat.
  12. During Saturday and Sunday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, Teams that haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Teams regarding the use of open Stations.
  13. Players and Coaches who break General Rules #9-12 may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).
  14. If a Team fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of their Match’s announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game.  10 minutes after the announcement, a Team will Forfeit their Best of 3 Game Match or the 2nd Game of their Best of 7 Game Match.  15 minutes after the announcement, a Team will Forfeit their Best of 7 Game Match.  If both Teams Forfeit their Match, the higher seeded Team will win the Match.
  15. Teams may be disqualified or forced to play a Game(s) shorthanded if a Player leaves their Station without their Referee’s permission, or is otherwise unable to play.  Referees may set a time limit for a Player who has requested that they be allowed to leave their Station, however, Referees may also deny a Player’s request to leave their Station.  Teams may be disqualified, or forced to play a Game(s) shorthanded, if a Player hasn’t returned by the end of their Referee’s set time limit.
  16. Teams are permitted to request a review of the Game film, once during a Match, if they believe that their Referee made an incorrect call related to Gameplay Rules or a Multi Flag Game’s initial time limit.  Review requests related to Gameplay Rules must be made during the Game in question, they must be specific to a Player, and they must be limited to a one minute window of the Game’s Film.  Review requests, related to a Multi Flag Game’s initial time limit, must be made before the start of a new Game or, if the Match has ended, before the Match results have been submitted.
  17. In order to dispute Game results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game.  In order to dispute Match results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match.  Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Game before a new Game has begun.  Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director.

Gameplay

  1. No going outside the normal boundaries of a Map.
  2. No using the Elite Armor Classification.
  3. No quitting out of a Team Slayer Game.
  4. No looking at an opposing Player’s TV or projected screen by Players or Coaches.
  5. Breaking any of Gameplay Rules #1-4 will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  6. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from an Event(s), and ejection from the venue.
  7. If a Team Slayer Game should tie, the Game must be replayed with a 5 minute Time Limit.
  8. Capture The Flag Games will have an initial time limit of 15 minutes.  If the Game Timer reaches 15:00, one Team is winning, and their flag is in the starting position, the Game is over.  If, however, the Game Score is tied when the Game Timer reaches 15:00, the Game must continue and the next Team to score a Point will win the Game (Sudden Death).  If Sudden Death reaches the Game’s 30 minute time limit, the Game must be replayed in Sudden Death.
  9. If the Game Timer in a Capture The Flag Game reaches 15:00, the difference in Points is one, and the leading Team’s flag is not in the starting position, the Game must continue.  If the trailing Team scores a Point and ties the Game before the leading Team is able to return their flag, the Game must continue in Sudden Death.  If the leading Team is able to return their flag and maintain their one-Point lead, the Game is over.  If the Game’s 30 minute time limit is reached and the leading Team has maintained their one Point lead, the leading Team will win the Game.
  10. Teams are permitted to start Capture The Flag Games with three Players.  However, Teams with fewer than four Players are not permitted to start a Team Slayer Game and Teams with fewer than three Players are not permitted to start any Games.  If a Team doesn’t have the required minimum number of Players to start a Match, they will Forfeit Games based on the timeline set in General Rules #14.  If a Team doesn’t have the required minimum number of Players to start a Game, after the previous Game has ended, that Team must Forfeit the Game.  Players are not permitted to join Games that are in progress.  Players are not permitted to add a Character to a Game for a Player who is absent.
  11. Players who quit out of a Capture The Flag Game before it has ended, without Referee’s permission, will not be allowed to rejoin the Game and a Team will Forfeit the Game if all of their Players quit.  If a Player rejoins a Capture The Flag Game after they have quit, their Team will Forfeit the Game.
  12. The higher seeded Team must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Team must play as the Blue team.
  13. All Host choices must be made before the start of a Match.
  14. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted.
  15. Teams that incorrectly end a Game, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
  16. Teams that are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game.  Teams that are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.  Teams that are disqualified won’t receive any Rank Points for their ranking in the Event.
  17. Players must use their registered MLG Username during all Games.  No Team Name abbreviations are allowed.  Players found breaking this rule may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).

Format

Regular Season Competitions & National Championship Competition

  1.   5. Players will be seeded using SC2 Pro Circuit Rank Points.  Ties will be broken randomly.  Players with no SC2 Rank Points will be seeded randomly.  No Players will have SC2 Rank Points until the Washington D.C. Competition.
  6. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Open Bracket, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.  When the Match is resumed, the loser of the Winners Bracket Match must select the Map for the upcoming Game and only they may change their Race from the Races that were used in the last Game of the Winners Bracket Match.
  7. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Open Bracket, an initial Match must be played.  If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event.  If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the Match, a tiebreaking Match must be played.  The winner of a tiebreaking Match will win the Event.  Game 1 of the initial Match will be played on the Map that has been selected for Game 1 of the Finals.  Game 1 of the tiebreaking Match will be played on the Map that has been selected for Game 1 of the Winners Bracket Finals.  If the Players have already competed against each other on the Map that has been selected for Game 1 of the Winners Bracket Finals, the Player who came from the Winners Bracket will select the Map for Game 1 of the tiebreaking Match.
  8. The top 32 Players in each Event will receive SC2 Pro Circuit Rank Points.
  9. The Player who wins the SC2 Event at the National Championship Competition will be crowned a 2010 Pro Circuit National Champion.

 

2010 Pro Circuit Registration - SC2 Events

  1. Players who finish in the top 16 of the Raleigh Event will be given a Reserved Player Pass for the SC2 Event at the Washington D.C. Pro Circuit Competition.
  2. Player Pass Reservations will be sent to the Player who earned the Reserved Player Pass on the Monday of the week prior to the public sale of Player Passes.  The Reservations will expire on the Monday of the week of the public sale of Player Passes.  Any Reserved Player Passes that aren’t sold before the reservations expire will be sold to the public.

Rules

 

Equipment

  1. Players must bring their own mouse, keyboard, headsets, and mouse pad.  Players must use the PC and Monitor provided by MLG.
  2. Headsets must utilize a standard 3.5mm stereo headset jack with a separate 3.5mm microphone jack. Players may not use USB headsets.
  3. Mice and keyboards must utilize standard USB interfaces. Players may not use PS2 interface equipment.
  4. All Players must submit their mouse, keyboard, and headset driver requirements by 11:59 PM ET on Monday, November 1st.  No drivers, that have not been previously submitted, will be installed at the Dallas Competition.
  5. All Player equipment is subject to approval.
  6. All interface changes must be supervised by a Starcraft 2 Referee or the Starcraft 2 Tournament Director.
  7. Players must provide their own Battle.net account with an active Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty license for the North American (NA) Region.
  8. Players may not use 3rd party Add-ons.
  9. Players may not alter game files or modify drivers.
  10. Breaking any Equipment Rules #8 or #9 will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  11. Players may not change the Computer/Monitor sound and video settings in Windows.
  12. Players may not change the in-game video settings to Ultra.
  13. Players may not use the Windowed or Windowed (Full Screen) Display Modes.
  14. Players who break Equipment Rules #11-13 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game.

 

General Rules

  1. The latest official Patch version will be used throughout the Event.
  2. Players may not appear on a Station with sponsor insignia that is not approved by MLG or conflicts with MLG sponsors.  Players may be asked to wear MLG apparel for all Matches.
  3. In the case of a Computer/Monitor malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning.
  4. No Warm-Up Games may be played outside of scheduled Warm-Up periods.
  5. During scheduled Warm-Up periods the winner can stay, but the loser must get up.
  6. During scheduled Warm-Up periods, Players who haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Players regarding the use of open Stations.
  7. Players who break General Rules #4-6 may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).
  8. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted.
  9. If a Player fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of the announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game.  10 minutes after the announcement, a Player will Forfeit their Match.  If both Players Forfeit their Match, the higher seeded Player will win the Match.
  10. Players may be disqualified if they leave their Station without their Referee’s permission, or are otherwise unable to play.  Referees may set a time limit for a Player who has requested that they be allowed to leave their Station, however, Referees may also deny a Player’s request to leave their Station.  Players may be disqualified if they haven’t returned by the end of the Referee’s set time limit.
  11. In order to dispute Game results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game.  In order to dispute Match results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match.  Players must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Game before a new Game has begun.  Players must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director.

 

Gameplay

  1. No Pausing a Game without Referee’s permission.  If an issue arises that requires a Pause, Players should contact their Referee immediately.  Referees may approve or deny a Player’s request to Pause the Game.  Pausing a Game without Referee’s permission will result in a Warning.  If a Player receives a 2nd Warning they will Forfeit their current Game (See Gameplay Rule #17).
  2. Players may not look at an opposing Player’s Monitor or projected screen.
  3. Players may not chat in-game unless they are engaging in pre-game sportsmanship or surrendering the Game.
  4. Players must disable Toast Notifications in the Battle.net options.
  5. Players must set their status to Busy.
  6. Breaking any of Gameplay Rules #2-5 will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  7. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from the Event, and ejection from the venue.
  8. The Map for Game 1 of each Match will be selected by MLG and announced prior to the Event.
  9. Prior to the start of a Best of 3 Game Match and the Blind Pick of Races, each Player must select one Map, from the list of Maps, that can’t be chosen for Games 2-3.  These Maps can’t be chosen for Games 4-7 should the Players be scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Open Bracket (See Open Bracket Rule #6).  The lower seeded Player will be given the opportunity to select a Map first.  The higher seeded Player will then be given the opportunity to select a Map.
  10. The loser of a Game must select the Map for the next Game.
  11. No Map may be played more than once in the same Best of 3 Game Match, Best of 7 Game Match, or in the Finals.
  12. Referees will conduct a Blind Pick of Races for Game 1 of a Match.
  13. The loser of a Game may select a different Race for the next Game.
  14. Players who quit out of a Game before it has ended, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
  15. Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game.  Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.  Players who are disqualified won’t receive any Rank Points for their ranking in the Event.
  16. The higher seeded Player must host all Games in a Match.  However, if a Match is broadcasted, an observer will host all Games in the Match.
  17. Only MLG Staff members may connect to the server as an observer.  Inviting someone to observe a Match without Referee’s permission will result in a Warning.  If a Player receives a 2nd Warning they will Forfeit their current Game (See Gameplay Rule #1).
  18. If a Player loses their connection to the Host during a Game, the Game must be replayed.
  19. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, but both Players remain in the Game, the Game must continue.
  20. The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team.
  21. If all Minerals on the Map have been consumed and no Units or Structures have been killed/destroyed for 5 minutes, the Game will be replayed.

Format

 

National Championship Competition - Tekken 6 1v1 Event

  1. The Event will be separated into an Open and a Championship Bracket.  The Open and Championship Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket, containing Players without a Match loss, and a Losers Bracket, containing Players with a Match loss.
  2. The Open Bracket will support as many as 128 Players.
  3. The Open Bracket and Championship Bracket will be Best of 5 Game Match, Double Elimination Brackets.
  4. After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter the corresponding Losers Bracket.
  5. A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
  6. Players eliminated by way of Championship Bracket Losers Bracket Rounds 1-4 will be scheduled to play one, two, or three Consolation Matches in order to determine their exact 5th-16th Ranking.  Consolation Matches will be scheduled to begin immediately after a Player is eliminated from the Event.
  7. Players will be seeded for the Open Bracket and Championship Bracket using the following criteria in this order: Tekken 6 Pro Circuit Rank Points and Tekken 6 Online Qualifier Rank Points.  Ties will be broken using the next available criterion or randomly if necessary.  Players with no Rank Points will be seeded randomly.  In the Championship Bracket, Players with Automatic Bracket Qualification will be seeded ahead of Players advancing from the Open Bracket.  Players advancing from the Open Bracket without a Match loss will be seeded ahead of Players advancing from the Open Bracket with a Match loss.  Championship Bracket Players seeded 1-4 will start in Winners Bracket Round 2.  Championship Bracket Players seeded 5-8 will start in Winners Bracket Round 1.
  8. When 8 Players remain in the Open Bracket (4 Winners Bracket Players & 4 Losers Bracket Players), the Open Bracket will end and each Player will qualify for the Championship Bracket.
  9. The Championship Bracket will support as many as 16 Players.
  10. The top 8 Players, determined by Tekken 6 Pro Status Rankings, will receive Automatic Bracket Qualification for the Championship Bracket.  Players without an Open Bracket Match loss will start in Championship Bracket Winners Bracket Round 1.  Players who lose a Match in the Open Bracket will start in Championship Bracket Losers Bracket Round 1.
  11. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Open Bracket or a 2nd time in the Championship Bracket, their Match will expand to a Best of 11, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 3 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 11 will resume with Game 4 and Player A leading 3 Games to 0.  When the Match is resumed, the winner of the Winners Bracket Match must use the Character that they used in the last Game of that Match.  The loser of the Winners Bracket Match will be allowed to select a new Character.
  12. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Championship Bracket, an initial Match must be played.  If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event.  If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the Match, a tiebreaking Match must be played.  The winner of a tiebreaking Match will win the Event.
  13. The top 40 Players in the Event will receive Tekken 6 Pro Circuit Rank Points.
  14. The top 16 Players, determined by Tekken 6 Pro Circuit Rank Points immediately following this Pro Circuit Competition will earn Pro Status.  Ties will be broken by each Player’s Ranking in the Event.
  15. The Player who wins the Championship Bracket will be crowned a 2010 Pro Circuit National Champion.

 

2010 Pro Circuit Registration - Tekken 6 1v1 Events

  1. Players who finish in the top 16 of an Event will receive Free Entry into the Tekken 6 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  2. Players who finish 17th-32nd in an Event will be given a Reserved Player Pass for the Tekken 6 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  3. Players who finish in the top 32 of a Tekken 6 Pro Circuit Online Qualifier will be given a Reserved Player Pass for the Tekken 6 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  4. Player Pass Reservations will be sent to the Player who earned the Reserved Player Pass on the Monday of the week prior to the public sale of Player Passes.  The Reservations will expire on the Monday of the week of the public sale of Player Passes.  Any Reserved Player Passes that aren’t sold before the reservations expire will be sold to the public.
  5. Public Registration for each Event will open at 7 PM ET on the Wednesday just over four weeks prior to the upcoming Pro Circuit Competition.
  6. Public Registration for each Event will close at 11:59 PM ET on the Monday, 4 days prior to the upcoming Pro Circuit Competition.
  7. Tekken 6 Player Passes will be sold online for $35. Tekken 6 Player Passes will be sold at Check-In, Bracket space permitting, for $50.
  8. Pro Tekken 6 Players who plan to participate in the National Championship Event must notify MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) by 5 PM ET on the Thursday of the week of the public sale of Player Passes.  The top 8 Pro Tekken 6 Players who notify MLG of their plan to participate in the National Championship Event, by the deadline, will start in the Championship Bracket.  If a Tekken 6 Player is needed to replace a Championship Bracket Player who chooses not to participate in the Event, the Player with the #1 Open Bracket Seed at the Team Builder Lock will be selected (See 2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules).  Tekken 6 Players will not be selected to replace a Championship Bracket Player who chooses not to participate in the Event, but fails to notify MLG prior to the start of the Event.  If a Tekken 6 Player is selected to replace a Championship Bracket Player, they will be given the #8 Seed.  Other Championship Bracket Players may see their Seed rise by one, however, all Players will keep their position in the Championship Bracket.  The replacement Player will take the position of the Player that they replaced.
  9. After obtaining a Player Pass, Players must use Team Builder to complete their Registration (See 2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules).

 

All Competitions - Tekken 6 3v3 Event

  1. Events will have an Open Bracket only.  Open Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket, containing Teams without a Match loss, and a Losers Bracket, containing Teams with a Match loss.  Teams lose a Match when all of their Players have lost a Game in the Match (See Tekken 6 3v3 Event #7).
  2. Open Brackets will support as many as 64 Teams.

2010 Pro Circuit Registration - Tekken 6 3v3 Events

  1. Registration for each Tekken 6 3v3 Event will be taken on-site after the corresponding 1v1 Event ends.  There won’t be any online Registration.
  2. The top 64 Players in each Tekken 6 1v1 Event will earn a reserved spot and the opportunity to register for the corresponding 3v3 Event before all other Players.
  3. Registration for each Tekken 6 3v3 Event will close at 9:30 AM ET on the day of the Event.
  4. The Entry Fee will be $10 per Player.
  5. 100% of the Tekken 6 3v3 Event’s Entry Fees will be awarded as prizes.  The prize breakdown will be as follows: 1st Place = 60%, 2nd Place = 30%, 3rd Place = 10%.

Rules

General Rules

  1. Sony PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Controllers will be provided.  Players may use their own Wired Controller, but they may not modify a provided controller in any way (See General Rules #2-4).
  2. Players who don’t use a provided controller may not use a controller with Button Mapping capabilities, more buttons than the first party controller, or Wireless capabilities, and they may not use a USB Controller Charging Cord.  Controllers with Button Mapping capabilities allow Players to map a button sequence to a specific button.  Pressing that button results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons.
  3. Controllers with Turbo capabilities will be allowed if they have a working Turbo Light, but the Turbo feature may not be used during a Game.  Controllers with Turbo capabilities allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times. 
  4. Players may not use a controller that has been modified in such a way that it alters their Character’s abilities and/or in-game mechanics.  Players may not use a controller that has been modified to include a Turbo button or Button Mapping capabilities.  Players are allowed to make cosmetic changes to their controller, however, Major League Gaming reserves the right to deny the use of any controller suspected of providing an unfair competitive advantage. 
  5. Players may not attach a headset to the PlayStation 3 or TV.
  6. Players/Teams who break General Rules #1-5 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player/Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See Gameplay #3).
  7. Players/Teams who break General Rules #1-4 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player/Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See Gameplay #3).
  8. Players may not appear on the Main Stage or Feature Station with sponsor insignia that is not approved by MLG or conflicts with MLG sponsors.  Players may be asked to wear MLG apparel for Main Stage and Feature Station Matches.
  9. In the case of a PlayStation 3/TV malfunction, the Game will be restarted with the appropriate Round Score.  If necessary, Players will be instructed to move their Characters to the appropriate section of the Stage for the restarted Round.  If the Round Score is not known at the time of the malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning.
  10. No Warm-Up Games may be played outside of scheduled Warm-Up periods.
  11. During scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Games must be played with Best of 5 Rounds or less.
  12. During scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Players must get up at the end of a Game and allow any Players, who have been waiting, to take their seat.
  13. During Saturday and Sunday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, Players/Teams who haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Players/Teams regarding the use of open Stations.
  14. Players who break General Rules #10-13 may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).
  15. If a Player/Team fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of their Match’s announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game.  10 minutes after the announcement, a Player/Team will Forfeit the 2nd Game.  15 minutes after the announcement, a Player/Team will Forfeit the Best of 5 or Best of 11 Game Match.  If both Players/Teams Forfeit the Match, the higher seeded Player/Team will win the Match.

Gameplay

  1. Players must use one of their Character’s default Costumes.
  2. Players may not customize their Character’s Name or Costume.
  3. Players/Teams who break Gameplay Rules #1-2 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player/Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See General Rules #4).
  4. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from the Event, and ejection from the venue.  Players who are disqualified from the Event won’t receive any Rank Points for their ranking in the Event.
  5. The higher seeded Player/Team must press start at the title screen and select their side of the screen before the start of a Match.
  6. Players may request a Blind Pick of Characters for Game 1 of a 1v1 Match.
  7. In the 1v1 Event, the loser of each Game may select a new Character for the next Game.  The winner of each Game won’t be allowed to select a new Character for the next Game.
  8. Each Game’s Stage will be selected using the Random Stage option.  Players may request that their Referee select the Random Stage option.
  9. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted.
  10. Players who Pause a Game, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
  11. Before the start of the 3v3 Event, Players must select the Character that they will use throughout the Event.  Players may not change their Character once the Event has started.
  12. Players on the same Team may not select the same Character for the 3v3 Event.
  13. Teams must set the order in which they will play before the start of each Match.  Teams may change the order in which they will play from Match to Match.

  • Individual Smash Brawl players each will face off in an open and/or championship bracket for the right to call themself an MLG National Champion.
  • Earn Pro Circuit Rank Points that will boost seeds for future Pro Circuit competitions.
  • Anyone with the talent and drive can go pro! At the end of the event, the top 16 ranked players, based on rank points, will be awarded status as MLG pro players.

Format

National Championship Competition - SSBB 1v1 Event

  1. The Event will be separated into an Open and a Championship Bracket.  The Open and Championship Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket, containing Players without a Match loss, and a Losers Bracket, containing Players with a Match loss.
  2. The Open Bracket will support as many as 256 Players.
  3. The Open Bracket will be a Best of 3 Game Match, Double Elimination Bracket.
  4. The Championship Bracket will be a Best of 5 Game Match, Double Elimination Bracket.
  5. After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter the corresponding Losers Bracket.
  6. A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
  7. Players eliminated by way of Championship Bracket Losers Bracket Rounds 1-4 will be scheduled to play one, two, or three Consolation Matches in order to determine their exact 5th-16th Ranking.  Consolation Matches will be scheduled to begin immediately after a Player is eliminated from the Event.
  8. Players will be seeded for the Open Bracket and Championship Bracket using the following criteria in this order: SSBB Pro Circuit Rank Points and SSBB Online Qualifier Rank Points.  Ties will be broken using the next available criterion or randomly if necessary.  Players with no Rank Points will be seeded randomly.  In the Championship Bracket, Players with Automatic Bracket Qualification will be seeded ahead of Players advancing from the Open Bracket.  Players advancing from the Open Bracket without a Match loss will be seeded ahead of Players advancing from the Open Bracket with a Match loss.  Championship Bracket Players seeded 1-4 will start in Winners Bracket Round 2.  Championship Bracket Players seeded 5-8 will start in Winners Bracket Round 1.
  9. When 8 Players remain in the Open Bracket (4 Winners Bracket Players & 4 Losers Bracket Players), the Open Bracket will end and each Player will qualify for the Championship Bracket.
  10. The Championship Bracket will support as many as 16 Players.
  11. The top 8 Players, determined by SSBB Pro Status Rankings, will receive Automatic Bracket Qualification for the Championship Bracket.  Players without an Open Bracket Match loss will start in Championship Bracket Winners Bracket Round 1.  Players who lose a Match in the Open Bracket will start in Championship Bracket Losers Bracket Round 1.
  12. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Open Bracket, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.  When the Match is resumed, the loser of the Winners Bracket Match must select the Stage for the upcoming Game.  When the Match is resumed, the winner of the Winners Bracket Match must select their Character for the upcoming Game first.  The loser of the Winners Bracket Match must then select their Character for the upcoming Game.
  13. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in the Championship Bracket, their Match will expand to a Best of 11, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 3 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 11 will resume with Game 4 and Player A leading 3 Games to 0.  When the Match is resumed, the loser of the Winners Bracket Match must select the Stage for the upcoming Game.  When the Match is resumed, the winner of the Winners Bracket Match must select their Character for the upcoming Game first.  The loser of the Winners Bracket Match must then select their Character for the upcoming Game.
  14. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Championship Bracket, an initial Match must be played.  If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event.  If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the Match, a tiebreaking Match must be played.  The winner of a tiebreaking Match will win the Event.
  15. The top 40 Players in the Event will receive SSBB Pro Circuit Rank Points.
  16. The top 16 Players, determined by SSBB Pro Circuit Rank Points immediately following this Pro Circuit Competition will earn Pro Status.  Ties will be broken by each Player’s Ranking in the Event.
  17. The Player who wins the Championship Bracket will be crowned a 2010 Pro Circuit National Champion.

 

2010 Pro Circuit Registration - SSBB 1v1 Events

  1. Players who finish in the top 16 of an Event will receive Free Entry into the SSBB 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  2. Players who finish 17th-32nd in an Event will be given a Reserved Player Pass for the SSBB 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  3. Players who finish in the top 32 of a SSBB Pro Circuit Online Qualifier will be given a Reserved Player Pass for the SSBB 1v1 Event at the next Pro Circuit Competition.
  4. Player Pass Reservations will be sent to the Player who earned the Reserved Player Pass on the Monday of the week prior to the public sale of Player Passes.  The Reservations will expire on the Monday of the week of the public sale of Player Passes.  Any Reserved Player Passes that aren’t sold before the reservations expire will be sold to the public.
  5. Public Registration for each Event will open at 7 PM ET on the Wednesday just over four weeks prior to the upcoming Pro Circuit Competition.
  6. Public Registration for each Event will close at 11:59 PM ET on the Monday, 4 days prior to the upcoming Pro Circuit Competition.
  7. SSBB Player Passes will be sold online for $35. SSBB Player Passes will be sold at Check-In, Bracket space permitting, for $50.
  8. Pro SSBB Players who plan to participate in the National Championship Event must notify MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) by 5 PM ET on the Thursday of the week of the public sale of Player Passes.  The top 8 Pro SSBB Players who notify MLG of their plan to participate in the National Championship Event, by the deadline, will start in the Championship Bracket.  If a SSBB Player is needed to replace a Championship Bracket Player who chooses not to participate in the Event, the Player with the #1 Open Bracket Seed at the Team Builder Lock will be selected (See 2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules).  SSBB Players will not be selected to replace a Championship Bracket Player who chooses not to participate in the Event, but fails to notify MLG prior to the start of the Event.  If a SSBB Player is selected to replace a Championship Bracket Player, they will be given the #8 Seed.  Other Championship Bracket Players may see their Seed rise by one, however, all Players will keep their position in the Championship Bracket.  The replacement Player will take the position of the Player that they replaced.
  9. After obtaining a Player Pass, Players must use Team Builder to complete their Registration (See 2010 Pro Circuit Registration Rules).

 

All Competitions - SSBB 2v2 Event

  1. Events will have an Open Bracket only.  Open Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket, containing Teams without a Match loss, and a Losers Bracket, containing Teams with a Match loss.  Teams lose a Match when all of their Players have lost a Game in the Match.
  2. Open Brackets will support as many as 64 Teams.  The Open Bracket at the National Championship Competition will support as many as 48 Teams.
  3. Open Brackets will be Best of 3 Game Match, Double Elimination Brackets.
  4. After losing a Match in the Winners Bracket, Teams will enter the Losers Bracket.
  5. A Match loss in the Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
  6. Teams will be seeded using the following criteria, in this order: SSBB Pro Circuit Rank Points and SSBB Online Qualifier Rank Points.  Ties will be broken using the next available criterion, or randomly if necessary.  Teams with no SSBB Rank Points will be seeded randomly.
  7. 2010 Pro Circuit Registration - SSBB 2v2 Events

  1. Registration for each SSBB 2v2 Event, at Regular Season Competitions, will be taken on-site after the corresponding 1v1 Event ends.  Registration for each SSBB 2v2 Event, at the National Championship Competition, will be taken on-site on Friday and Saturday.  There won’t be any online Registration.
  2. The top 64 Players in each SSBB 1v1 Event will earn a reserved spot and the opportunity to register for the corresponding 2v2 Event before all other Players.  
  3. Registration for each SSBB 2v2 Event will close at 9:30 AM ET on the day of the Event.
  4. The Entry Fee will be $10 per Player.
  5. 100% of the SSBB 2v2 Event’s Entry Fees will be awarded as prizes.  The prize breakdown will be as follows: 1st Place = 60%, 2nd Place = 30%, 3rd Place = 10%.

All emails submitted to jnelson@mlgpro.com must be submitted from the email address registered to the individual’s MLGpro.com Username.

Rules

General Rules

  1. Players may not use a controller with Turbo capabilities, Button Mapping capabilities, more buttons than the first party GameCube controller, or Wireless capabilities.  Controllers with Turbo capabilities allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times.  Controllers with Button Mapping capabilities allow Players to map a button sequence to a specific button.  Pressing that button results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons.
  2. Players may not use a controller that has been modified in such a way that it alters their Character’s abilities and/or in-game mechanics.  Players may not use a controller that has been modified to include a Turbo button or Button Mapping capabilities.  Players are allowed to make cosmetic changes to their controller, however, Major League Gaming reserves the right to deny the use of any controller suspected of providing an unfair competitive advantage. 
  3. Players may not attach a headset to the Wii or TV.
  4. Players/Teams who break General Rules #1-3 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player/Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See Gameplay #3).
  5. Players may not intentionally manipulate a button, trigger, bumper, D-Pad, and/or joystick on a teammate’s controller while a Game is in progress.  Breaking this rule will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  6. Players may not appear on the Main Stage or Feature Station with sponsor insignia that is not approved by MLG or conflicts with MLG sponsors.  Players may be asked to wear MLG apparel for Main Stage and Feature Station Matches.
  7. In the case of a Wii/TV malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning.
  8. No Warm-Up Games may be played outside of scheduled Warm-Up periods.
  9. During scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Games must be played with three Stock or less.
  10. During scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Players must get up at the end of a Game and allow any Players, who have been waiting, to take their seat.
  11. During Saturday and Sunday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, Players/Teams who haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Players/Teams regarding the use of open Stations.
  12. Players who break General Rules #8-11 may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).
  13. If a Player/Team fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of their Match’s announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game.  10 minutes after the announcement, a Player/Team will Forfeit the Best of 3 Game Match or the 2nd Game of the Best of 5/7/11 Game Match.   15 minutes after the announcement, a Player/Team will Forfeit the Best of 5, Best of 7, or Best of 11 Game Match.  If both Players/Teams Forfeit the Match, the higher seeded Player/Team will win the Match.
  14. Players/Teams may Forfeit a Game or Match if a Player leaves their Station without their Referee’s permission, or is otherwise unable to play.  Referees may set a time limit for a Player who has requested that they be allowed to leave their Station, however, Referees may also deny a Player’s request to leave their Station.  Players/Teams may Forfeit a Game or Match if a Player hasn’t returned by the end of their Referee’s set time limit.
  15. In order to dispute Game results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game.  In order to dispute Match results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match.  Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Game before a new Game has begun.  Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director. 

 

Gameplay

  1. No use of Marth’s and Squirtle’s Grab Release Infinites against Ness.
  2. No use of King Dedede’s Standing Grab Infinites against Bowser, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Samus, and Mario.
  3. Players/Teams who break Gameplay Rules #1-2 will be given a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player/Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game (See General Rules #4).
  4. No use of Meta Knight’s Infinite Cape Glitch.
  5. No Pausing a Game without Referee’s permission.
  6. No use of an action that freezes a Game, or otherwise disrupts standard gameplay.
  7. Any Infinite Move must end before the affected Character reaches 300%.
  8. Breaking any of Gameplay Rules #4-7 will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
  9. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from the Event, and ejection from the venue.  Players who are disqualified from the Event won’t receive any Rank Points for their ranking in the Event.
  10. In the 1v1 Event, the higher seeded Player must choose their Controller Port first.  The lower seeded Player may use any of the remaining Controller Ports. 
  11. In the 2v2 Event, the higher seeded Team must choose one Controller Port first.  The lower seeded Team must then choose two Controller Ports.  The higher seeded Team must use the Controller Port that wasn’t chosen.
  12. Players may request a Blind Pick of Characters for Game 1 of a Match.
  13. For Game 1 of each Match, the higher seeded Player/Team must strike three Stages from the list of Starter Stages.  The lower seeded Player/Team must then strike 4 Stages from the list of Starter Stages.  The higher seeded Player/Team must then choose the Game 1 Stage from the remaining Starter Stages.
  14. After the Characters and Stage have been selected for Game 1 of a Match, each Player may select one Stage, from the list of Starter Stages or Counter-Pick Stages, that can’t be chosen for Games 2-11 (Stage Banning).  For Stage Banning, Players may not ban the Stage that has been selected for Game 1.  The lower seeded Player will be given the opportunity to select a Stage first.  The higher seeded Player will then be given the opportunity to select a Stage.
  15. The loser of a Game must select the Stage for the next Game, however, Players may not select a Stage on which they have already won a Game in the Match.  The Stage for Games 2-11 can be selected from the list of Starter Stages or Counter-Pick Stages.
  16. After the Stage for Game 2-11 has been selected, the winner of the previous Game must select their Character(s), for the upcoming Game, first.  The loser of the Game must then choose their Character(s) for the upcoming Game. 
  17. If the Timer runs out, the winner of the Game will be determined by the following criteria in this order: Stock and Percentage.  If Stock is used to determine a winner, the highest number will win.  If Percentage is used to determine a winner, the lowest number will win.  If both Stock and Percentage are tied, Sudden Death won’t be used and a Tiebreaker Round will be played instead.  Multiple Tiebreaker Rounds may be used if necessary.  In a Tiebreaker Round, Stock will be set to 1, the Timer will be set to 4 Minutes, and the same Stage and Characters must be used.
  18. If the Timer runs out and a Player exceeds the Edge Grab Limit, that Player/Team will Forfeit the Game.  However, if the Timer runs out and both Players in a 1v1 Match, or at least one Player on each 2v2 Team, exceed the Edge Grab Limit, the penalty will not be enforced (See Gameplay #17).  The Edge Grab Limit will be 35.  For Tiebreaker Rounds, the Edge Grab Limit will be 15.  The Edge Grab Limits only apply to Games/Tiebreaker Rounds in which the Timer runs out. 
  19. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted.
  20. Players may take one or more of their teammate’s Stock.
