2012 Pro Circuit Team Builder Rules

Team Builder

1.   League of Legends (LoL) Teams must be named and have five confirmed Players in Team Builder or they may not be entered into their Event.  Captains are confirmed after entering their contact information.  Other Players and Coaches are confirmed after accepting their invitation to the Team and entering their contact information.

2.   Players who purchase a Starcraft 2, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur V, or King of Fighters XIII Player Pass will be automatically entered into their Event.

3.   League of Legends Teams may have one Coach.  Coaches will not be allowed in any other Events.  Coaches must be confirmed in Team Builder prior to the start of the League of Legends Event.  After the start of that Event, Teams without a confirmed Coach won’t be allowed to add a Coach or compete with a Coach in the Event and Teams with a confirmed Coach won’t be allowed to change their Coach or compete with a different Coach in the Event.

4.   Prior to the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches will be allowed to join and leave League of Legends Teams, in Team Builder, without restriction.  Also, League of Legends Team Captains will be allowed to make changes to their Team Name and Roster of Players and Coach, in Team Builder, without restriction.

5.   After the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches must submit requests via Team Builder, or make requests at Check-In, in order to make changes to their League of Legends Team’s Roster of Players and Coach.  Players and Coaches who are confirmed on a League of Legends Team will be allowed to move to another Team if both Team Captains and all Players/Coaches who are switching Teams submit their approval of the changes.  After the Team Builder Lock, Players/Coaches can’t be removed without their approval until Check-In, if they are deemed to be unable to attend at that time.

6.   The Spring Championship Team Builder Lock will take place at 11:59 PM ET on Monday, June 4th.

7.   Individuals may not register or compete as a Player in two Spring Championship Events whose Event Schedules overlap.

8.   Individuals may not register or compete as both a Player and a Coach in the League of Legends Event.

9.   Individuals may not register or compete as a Coach of more than one Team in the League of Legends Event.

10. Individuals and Teams that break a Registration Rule #3 or #7-9 may Forfeit a Game(s) or Match, be disqualified from their Event(s), be forced to continue shorthanded, or be forced to continue without a Coach.  Such individuals and Teams may also be subject to a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites, Forfeit of a Prize, and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).

Post-Team Builder Lock Changes & Impersonation

1.   Teams are responsible for notifying the Commissioner of MLG of any changes to their Roster of Players and Coach that was submitted in Team Builder at the Team Builder Lock.  Notification must be made prior to the start of the League of Legends Event via email (jnelson@mlgpro.com) or at Check-In’s Registration Problems desk.  Teams that fail to notify the Commissioner of MLG of a change to their Roster of Players that would’ve affected the Team’s Seed will be subject to disqualification from the League of Legends Event, a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites, Forfeit of a Prize, and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).

2.   Players found attempting to use another Player’s MLG Username (Impersonation), that has Rank Points or Season 2 Circuit Points (LoL), will be removed from their Team, disqualified from the Event, given a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s), and stripped of any Rank Points earned in the current Event.  Such Players will also be subject to a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites, Forfeit of a Prize, and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).  The teammates of such Players may be subject to the same penalties.  If a Player, guilty of Impersonation, is removed from a Team prior to the start of the League of Legends Event, the Team may be allowed to add a Player in order to compete in the Event with a full Roster of Players.  If a Player, guilty of Impersonation, is removed from a Team after the start of the League of Legends Event, the Team will not be allowed to add a Player.  However, the Team may be permitted to continue to compete in the Event shorthanded.

3.   If a registered Player(s) fails to attend their Team's first Match, the Players who are present may request that they be allowed to permanently replace the Player(s) before they are forced to Forfeit a Game/Match.  Players who fail to attend their Team's first Match and are replaced will be considered as having consented to their removal from the Team.  If more than two Players fail to attend their Team's first Match, the Team will Forfeit the Match.

4.   Teams may not make a Roster change, during the League of Legends Event, in order to add or remove a Player or Coach who has participated in at least one of the Event’s Matches.

5.   If an individual is found attempting to play in place of an absent Player who is registered on the Team, the Team will be disqualified from the League of Legends Event.  Individuals who are registered as a Team’s Coach may not play in place of an absent Player.  The individual found attempting to play in place of an absent Player and the present Team members may also be subject to a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites, Forfeit of a Prize, and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).

Captains, Team Passes, and Release Forms

1.   A Team’s Captain in Team Builder is the Player who purchased and/or currently owns the Team Pass.  Therefore, if the Team Builder Captain is changed, the new Captain becomes the owner of the Team Pass.

2.   Team Builder Captain change requests must be submitted to MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) by the Team’s current Captain in Team Builder.

3.   Players and Coaches must accept the 2012 Pro Circuit Official Rules upon accessing Team Builder for 2012 Pro Circuit Events.

4.   Players and Coaches, 18 years of age and older (19 years of age and older in Alabama and Nebraska), will be able to accept the terms of the Appearance/Participation Release upon accessing Team Builder for their first 2012 Pro Circuit Event.

5.   Players and Coaches who are unable to accept the terms of the Appearance/Participation Release in Team Builder must bring a signed copy of the Appearance/Participation Release, with the Minor and Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form, to Check-In.

6.   Once a Player/Coach has submitted a 2012 Appearance/Participation Release, whether online or at Check-In, they won’t be required to submit another Appearance/Participation Release for the remainder of the 2012 Pro Circuit.

Event Format

Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifiers

Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifiers Format
1.   There will be 3 Invite-Only Online Qualifiers (each an “Event”) in the Summer Season (Europe, Korea/Taiwan, and North America).
2.   The following Players will be invited to participate in the Summer Arena:

  • Spring Championship - 1st-8th
  • Summer Europe (EU) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-9th
  • Summer Korea/Taiwan (KOR/TW) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-9th
  • Summer North America (NA) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-6th

3.   Each Event will support as few as 8 Players and as many as 88 Players, depending upon region choices (See Registration #4-5).
4.   Each Event will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket with Consolation Matches (See Match Format #4 & Bracket Format #2-4).

Match Format
1.   All Matches will be Best of 3 Games, unless the Players have already played each other in their Event.
2.   If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in an Event, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
3.   If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Event, an initial Best of 3 Games Match must be played.  If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event.  If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the initial Match, the Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the initial Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if the Losers Bracket Player beat the Winners Bracket Player 2 Games to 0 in the initial Match, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and the Losers Bracket Player leading 2 Games to 0.
4.   The winner of a Finals Best of 7 will win the Event.

Bracket Format
1.   Each Event will have a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket.  After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter the Losers Bracket.  A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event (See Match Format #4 & Bracket Format #2-4).
2.   Players eliminated from the EU Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 4 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to determine the final Summer Arena Invitation and to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates.  If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.
3.   Players eliminated from the KOR/TW Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 6 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to determine the final Summer Arena Invitation and to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates.  If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.
4.   Players eliminated from the NA Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 6 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates.  If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.  Players eliminated from the NA Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 7 will be scheduled to play a Consolation match against each other in order to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates.
5.   The Match Format #2 “Extended Series” Rule also applies to Consolation Matches.

Seeding
1.   Players will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Championship Standings, Spring Arena #2 Standings, Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings, Summer Open Online Qualifier Standings, and MLG Rank.  If Spring Championship or Spring Arena #2 Consolation Matches were played, they may be used to break ties.  Ties may also be broken using the next available criterion or randomly.  Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings will only be used to Seed Players who qualified for Spring Arena #2, but didn’t attend Spring Arena #2 or the Spring Championship.
2.   The following Spring Championship Standings placements will be used: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 13th, 17th, 21st, 25th, 29th, 33rd, 41st, 49th, and 65th.
3.   The following Summer Open Online Qualifier Standings placements will be used: 1st and 5th.
4.   The performance of all Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier Players will be used to determine their seed in the Summer Championship Starcraft 2 Event.

Registration
1.   Players may not participate in more than one Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier.
2.   There is no Entry Fee for the Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifiers.
3.   Players qualified for the Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifiers, via their Spring Championship, Spring Arena #2, or Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier performance, must submit their Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier Region Choice to jnye@mlgpro.com by 5 PM EDT on Friday, June 22nd.
4.   Players finishing in the top 8 in each Summer Open Online Qualifier must participate in the same region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier.
5.   Players must use Team Builder in order to complete their Registration, including accepting the 2012 Pro Circuit Official Rules.  Players must also join the appropriate Tournament in SC2 Battles .
6.   If a Player who qualifies for the Summer Arena is unable to participate in that Event, an alternate Player may be selected to take their place.  Alternate Players will be chosen from the ranked list of Alternates specific to the appropriate Event.  For example, if a Player who qualified for the Summer Arena via the Spring Championship is unable to attend, a Spring Championship Alternate will be chosen to take their place.

All emails submitted to jnye@mlgpro.com must be submitted from the email address that is registered to the individual’s MLG Username.

4.   Players may delay a Match between Games for up to five minutes.  Players can request that a Tournament Official enforce this five minute time limit.  After five minutes of a Tournament Official enforced delay, if the delaying Player is not present, they will Forfeit the Match.
5.   Players must not share the information stored on their MLG Username with another person.  This includes, but is not limited to the following: Passwords, Battle.net Accounts, and Email Addresses.
6.   Individuals may not use another Player’s Battle.net Account in the Online Qualifier.  Individuals may not allow another Player to use their Battle.net Account in the Online Qualifier.
7.   Players may not verbally abuse a Tournament Official.
8.   Players who break General Rules #5-7 may be disqualified from the Online Qualifier.
9.   Use of an incorrect Battle.net Account may result in a Forfeit of the Match.
10. Custom Game Creators who start a Game with the wrong Settings may Forfeit the Game, determined by a Tournament Official.  Players who quit out of a Game and claim that the wrong Settings were used will Forfeit the Game if they are unable to provide proof to back up their claim.
11. In order to dispute Game results, Players must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Game before a new Game has begun.  In order to dispute Match results, Players must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Match no longer than 15 minutes after the end of the Match.
12. Players may request that they be allowed to concede victory of a Game.  Players may request that their opponent not receive a Forfeit penalty or a penalty associated with receiving a Technical Foul.
13. Requests made pertaining to General Rules #11-12 will be decided upon by the Tournament Director.

Gameplay
1.   The exact MLG Map version must be used for all Games.
2.   Players found to have chatted about companies, sponsors, or products during a Game will be given a Foul.  Players found to have chatted excessively during a Game will be given a Foul.  Language used in in-game chat will be governed by the Pro Circuit Conduct Rules.  Players who receive 3 Fouls in an Invite-Only Online Qualifier and qualify for the Summer Arena will lose one Veto from their first Summer Arena Match and their opponent will be given three Vetoes.  Each subsequent Foul that a Player receives will result in the loss of another Veto that is given to a Summer Arena opponent.
3.   Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game and/or disqualification from the Online Qualifier.
4.   Both Players may switch their Race after each Game.
5.   No warm-up or practice Games are permitted once the Match’s first Game has begun.
6.   Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game.  Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.  Players who are disqualified won’t receive any benefits (seeding, prize, etc.) for their ranking in the Online Qualifier.  Such Players may also be subject to a Temporary Ban from MLG’s Network of Websites and/or a Ban from a future Pro Circuit Event(s).
7.   The higher seeded Player must host all Games in a Match.
8.   Only Tournament Officials may connect to a Game as an observer.  Inviting someone other than a Tournament Official to observe a Match may result in a Forfeit of the Game.
9.   If a Player loses their connection to the Host during the first minute of a Game, and then the in-game disconnect timer reaches 0, the Game must be replayed.  If a Player loses their connection to the Host after the first minute of a Game, and then the in-game disconnect timer reaches 0, the disconnecting Player will Forfeit the Game.
10. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, but both Players remain in the Game, the Game must continue.
11. The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team.  The highest seed is 1.
12. If a Game ends in a tie, it must be replayed.

Map Selection
1.   Prior to a Best of 3 Games Match, the higher seeded Player must choose to act as Player A or Player B.  Player A must veto one Map first, then Player B must veto two Maps, and then Player A must veto one more Map.  The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Match.  Player B must choose the Game 1 Map and then Player A must choose the Game 2 Map.  The Game 3 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed.
2.   All Map Vetoes and Map Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match (See Map Selection #3, #4 & #6).
3.   If a Best of 3 Games Match is expanded to a Best of 7 Games Match, Map Vetoes are no longer taken into account and the loser of a Game must select the Map for the next Game.  For example, if Game 3 wasn’t played in the initial Match, the loser of the initial Match must select the Map for that Game.
4.   No Map may be played more than once in a Best of 3 or Best of 7 Games Match.
5.   No Map will be considered as having been used in a Game that is forfeited according to General Rules #3.

Reporting Results
1.   The winning Player must report the Match results.
2.   If a Match isn’t played at the scheduled time, and neither Player contacts a Tournament Official during the Grace Period, the Match win will be awarded to the higher seeded Player.
3.   If a Match is played, both Players claim that they won, but neither Player has proof, the Match win will be awarded to the higher seeded Player.

3.   Players have a 15 minute Grace Period, after their Match’s scheduled start time, in which they must contact their opponent or a Tournament Official.  Players who fail to contact their opponent or a Tournament Official, during the Grace Period, may Forfeit their Match.
4.   Players may delay a Match between Games for up to five minutes.  Players can request that a Tournament Official enforce this five minute time limit.  After five minutes of a Tournament Official enforced delay, if the delaying Player is not present, they will Forfeit the Match.
5.   Players must not Stream their Matches.
6.   Players must not share the results of their Matches until after the Round has been broadcasted.  The Invite-Only Online Qualifiers are set to be broadcasted from May 8th through May 13th.
7.   Players must not share the information stored on their MLG Username with another person.  This includes, but is not limited to the following: Passwords, Battle.net Accounts, and Email Addresses.
8.   Individuals may not use another Player’s Battle.net Account in an Online Qualifier.  Individuals may not allow another Player to use their Battle.net Account in an Online Qualifier.
9.   Players may not verbally abuse a Tournament Official.
10. Players who break General Rules #5-9 may be disqualified from the Online Qualifier.
11. Use of an incorrect Battle.net Account will result in a Forfeit of the Match.
12. Custom Game Creators who start a Game with the wrong Settings may Forfeit the Game, determined by a Tournament Official.  Players who quit out of a Game and claim that the wrong Settings were used will Forfeit the Game if they are unable to provide proof to back up their claim.
13. In order to dispute Game results, Players must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Game before a new Game has begun.  In order to dispute Match results, Players must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Match no longer than 15 minutes after the end of the Match.
14. Players may request that they be allowed to concede victory of a Game.  Players may request that their opponent not receive a Forfeit penalty or a penalty associated with receiving a Technical Foul.
15. Requests made pertaining to General Rules #13-14 will be decided upon by the Tournament Director.

Gameplay
1.   The exact MLG [Cloaked] Map version must be used for all Games.
2.   Players found to have chatted about companies, sponsors, or products during a Game will be given a Foul.  Players found to have chatted excessively during a Game will be given a Foul.  Language used in in-game chat will be governed by the Pro Circuit Conduct Rules.  Players who receive 3 Fouls in an Invite-Only Online Qualifier and qualify for Spring Arena #2 will lose one Veto from their first Spring Arena #2 Match and their opponent will be given three Vetoes.  Each subsequent Foul that a Player receives will result in the loss of another Veto that is given to a Spring Arena #2 opponent.
Inviting someone other than a Tournament Official to observe a Game will result in a Warning.  Each subsequent Warning that a Player receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game.

2.   All Map Vetoes and Map Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match (See Map Selection #3, 4 & 6).
3.   If a Best of 3 Games Match is expanded to a Best of 7 or Best of 9 Games Match, Map Vetoes are no longer taken into account and the loser of a Game must select the Map for the next Game.  If Game 3 wasn’t played in the Winners Bracket, the loser of the Winners Bracket Match must select the Map for that Game.
4.   For a Finals Best of 5 Games Matches, the Losers Bracket Player must veto one Map first, then the Winners Bracket Player must veto one Map.  The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Best of 5 Games Match.  The Players must then alternate choosing each Game’s Map starting with the Winners Bracket Player choosing the Game 1 Map.  If the Match is extended to a Best of 9, the Winners Bracket Player must choose the order in which the vetoed Maps are played for Games 6 & 7.
5.   No Map may be played more than once in a Best of 3, Best of 5, or Best of 7 Games Match.
6.   If a Best of 9 Games Match reaches Game 8, another series of vetoes will be used to determine the Maps that are repeated.  Players must alternate vetoing one Map, starting with the Winners Bracket Player, until there are only two Maps remaining (Repeated Maps).  Finally, the Winners Bracket Player must choose the order in which the Repeated Maps will be played.  If a Game, involved in a Finals Best of 9, is Forfeited according to General Rules #2, MLG reserves the right to modify this rule.
7.   No Map will be considered as having been used in a Game that is Forfeited according to General Rules #2.

Competition Format

Spring SC2 Invite-Only Online Qualifiers: April 27-30

Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifiers Format
1.   There will be 3 Invite-Only Online Qualifiers (each an “Event”) in the Spring Season (Europe, Korea/Taiwan, and North America).
2.   The following Players will be invited to participate in Spring Arena #2:

  • Spring Arena #1 - 1st-4th
  • Spring Europe (EU) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-9th
  • Spring Korea/Taiwan (KOR/TW) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-10th
  • Spring North America (NA) Invite-Only Online Qualifier - 1st-8th
  • 2012 DreamHack Open: Stockholm - 1st

3.   Each Event will support as few as 8 Players and as many as 92 Players, depending upon region choices (See Registration #5-6).
4.   Each Event will each consist of a Double Elimination Bracket with Consolation Matches (See Bracket Format #2-3).

Match Format
1.   All Matches, except for the Finals, will be Best of 3 Games, unless the Players have already played each other in their Event.
2.   If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in an Event, in any Round other than the Finals, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
3.   If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in an Event, in the Finals, their Match will expand to a Best of 9, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the previous Match, the Best of 9 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
4.   If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Event, an initial Best of 5 Games Match must be played.  If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event.  If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the initial Match, the Match will expand to a Best of 9, include the initial Match, and pick up where that Match left off.  For example, if the Losers Bracket Player beat the Winners Bracket Player 3 Games to 0 in the initial Match, the Best of 9 will resume with Game 3 and the Losers Bracket Player leading 3 Games to 0.
5.   The winner of a Finals Best of 9 will win the Event.

Bracket Format
1.   Each Event will have a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket.  After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter the Losers Bracket.  A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event (See Bracket Format #2-3).
2.   Players eliminated by way of Losers Bracket Round 4 (EU & KOR/TW) will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order determine the final Spring Arena #2 Invitation(s) and to be ranked as Spring Arena #2 Alternates.  If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match, in the same Event, haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.
3.   Players eliminated by way of Losers Bracket Round 6 (NA) will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to be ranked as Spring Arena #2 Alternates.  If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.

Seeding
1.   Players will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Arena #1 Standings, Winter Championship Standings, Winter Arena Standings, Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings, and 2011 Starcraft 2 Pro Circuit Rank Points.  If Winter Championship or Winter Arena Consolation Matches were played, they may be used to break ties.  Ties may also be broken using the next available criterion or randomly.  Winter Arena Standings will be used to seed Players who didn’t participate in the Winter Championship Event and it may be used to break ties.
2.   The following Spring Arena #1 Standings placements will be used: 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.
